May 2, 2011

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.  In honor of all those who perished and what lessons we can learn from remembering

“What does it mean to remember? It is to live in more than one world, to
prevent the past from fading, and to call upon the future to illuminate it.”  Elie Wiesel

A Quick Thought That Deserves Lots Of Thought

The second part of this quote speaks to us all.  Never doubt that you can.

“If I sometimes doubt that man will achieve his mortal potentialities, I never doubt that he can”. —Bernard Baruch

“Winners Are Willing To Do What Others Are Not” from “Million Dollar Baby”(cont’d from yesterday)

April 28, 2011

Let’s look a little deeper into this quote from yesterday. A true winner is not necessarily one who comes in first place. A true winner is one who mines as much of their potential at every moment in everything they do. A true winner realizes that there is “no such thing as perfect just good tries”.

A true winner is also humble. He does not stand above on the podium but alongside all others. A true winner recognizes that all are capable of being winners in their respective pursuits and wishes to lend a hand by quiet example.

“A man who walks with confidence and strength creates a pathway for others”. – Hallmark card

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own”. – Benjamin Disraeli

Keep Fighting

April 27, 2011

You’re the in the ring fighting to see your dream and goal become a reality. You’ve lost the first few rounds. It’s not going as planned or as you had hoped. The fight isn’t over, but you wish it was and you fight like it is. You fight like you have already lost and therefore you will. Once again, sing along with me, “It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rival”, Survivor.

“If there’s magic in boxing, it’s the magic of fighting battles beyond endurance. Beyond cracked ribs, ruptured kidneys and detached retinas. It’sthe magic or risking everything, for a dream that nobody sees but you”. – Scrap, the boxing gym manager in “Million Dollar Baby”

“Winners are willing to do what others are not.” – From “Million Dollar Baby”

Today

April 26, 2011

We have all at some point and in some degree spent time thinking about those things from our past that we miss. If we remember those things for the happiness and lessons they brought us then we are prepared for our future. If those things that we miss consume us then we are anchored in the past.

“If you spend all day missing things, you will miss today”

“Yesterday is history.  Tomorrow is a mystery.  Today is a gift…. that’s why they call it the present”. – unattributed
